Probably some of us had lay our hands on comic before, some during teenage while some still watching comic till now. I fit into both the case. Happen to be a fans of several comics mainly from Japan, Hong Kong and China. For you who likes comics you would heard your parents saying "Dont read such useless waste. Go study your text books!" Well I kind of disagree with this.
For me, comic had done 1 very very good job to me and that is introduce me into the world of sports. During primary years I am a fatso, a kind of nerd and I believe my past time during that time was study text book and Legoing. Since secondary year with coincident I cross path with Comic/Manga and for those born during 80's you would know this comic call "Slam Dunk". Obviously it is relate to Basketball and after finishing it I give myself a try to play basketball in my secondary years. And I end up being a not bad player. Have my range have my drive.... and now through comic as well I being introduce to one of the favorite sports of America - American Football.
I started reading the comic "Eyeshield 21" through the comic magazine and found it is interesting. I know of the existence of American Football before and my initial perception towards it is similar to Rugby and is a rough barbaric sports and is just not a sport but is an action that easily kill yourself with the tackle and others. In real fact it is not as I thought it be. After I read the comic ya is still a heavy body contact game and the bashing the tackling is rough but I start to appreciate the art of it. Body contact is unavoidable but the tactic is superb. Shotgun, running game, sweep etc etc. Is no more a barbaric game where you just trying to overpower the opponent but to outsmart them. Each player in each position plays a vital role. Professionalism in the position is the very key. Now I not a die hard fans that follow NFL games but I pay attention to the particular SuperBowl game where the best of the American League and National League (i not sure how the separate the team into 2 league but i take it as like NBA where eastern conference and western conference meet in the final) play in it.
Comic too can turn the boring history lesson into fun and interesting teaching material (i personally think). Lately I been reading a history base manga call "Ravages of time" which base on the historic record of the 3 kingdoms. Yeah you would say the manga did not follow exactly to the history but the way they convey the message is very very nice and make you feel interested to it.
Currently I am on hook to this few manga.
Short note:
HK comics are cool and the drawing are superb.
Japanese Manga is plot and very imaginative. Story line also catching your attention.
American Comic is Heroic themed though i am not a fans of it but is nice as well.
End of all
Happy Tiger years..... Gong Xi Fa Cai to ya all...
