Welcome to the hotel of California....

Life on the business travel to Santa Clara

Step on the ground of a well developed country...
Feeling so nice....

Santa Clara, silicon valley. From my hotel to work I would had feel it is made out of silicon. Yahoo on my left, Cisco on my right, Sun Microsystem just miles away. So high tech, so many engineer, so many highly intelligent people walking by....

Weather here is the thing I like the most here. Morning temperature reach around 15oC, noon time you can walk 1-2 km under the hot sun and you wont even sweat. Though it is dry but it is relaxing...

Traffic here is the one I handle with care. Changing style from left lane drive to right lane drive. Having a cool Vtec big car call Pontiac G6. First few days I was driving like 20 mph where get hornned by the american for a few times just 2 miles drive from the rental back to hotel.... sigh.... Now I can ramp it up.... but no Malaysian style driving here....

Food is different. Bagel, Bread, Sandwich, pancake.... all wheat made product. Burger, Steak, Bacon, Sausage.... all meaty and oily. Now I know why they are tall and fat. I like Bacon at first but now I feel it is salty. Oh ya salty.... everything here can easily get too salty and I can still see some american taking the salt bottle and sprinkle some on their food. So far I like their Burger and I am always looking forward to the Japanese food here. So worth to try on the Japanese food here. Mexican food are salty and beannies, wondering why they so like black bean paste. Korean food here are nice too. Chines Dim Sum is expensive as 1 portion of the siu mai that consist of 3 piece cost u $4 but is really big and you can feel the whole shrimp is in you mouth.

People here are friendly as well. Well most of the American I met here are... The most unforgetable interact with American is during my first dinner in the hotel restaurant. A 50 years old male American from Hawaii come into the restuarant and in the restaurant is just me that time. He ask if I need a company and I was stunned a little bit and then say yes why not. In Malaysia you wont do that. That guy unfortunately I forget his name told me a lot about America. Tipping, where to go, where to eat etc and he been to Malaysia too. Climbed the Mount Kinabalu.... cool uncle he is.

Working life style here is big different as well. People come in around 9am and back around 5-6pm. Early morning before work start there are people working out in the gym. Seeing people cycle to work with full protective gear. Heard some of them cycle for like 45 minutes to come to work. Lunch time there is people crowded the Basketball and Volleyball court. They are relax and productive. My first day here there is professional people come to check me out on my ergonomic. Asking me if I am comfortable with the chair, my leg is in the correct position, table is high enough, do I have a mouse so that dont need to use the laptop touchpad. Employee are treasured here.

Shopping is heaven here.... branded stuff in Malaysia here cost like nothing. Gap, Levis, Gucci, Timberland, Polo, Banana Republic all sale like $10 you can get a good shirt. 1 visit to the heaven call Gillroy here already cost me $170..... and I had control myself in the spending... imagine if I lost control of myself....

Well this lengthy sentence I guess shoudl be no one interested. Let me have my photo then I post some beautiful scenary up and let the viewer see....
