Food & Drinks

opener...

Well if you read my blog alot you should notice that i like to use Chinese to write but due to i am in office now and i am too lazy to use the Chinese so i use English. But i guess you should enjoy it too.

Bangalore Best Food Guide

Leela Palace - Citrus

Leela Palace - 6 star hotel (plp say it was 6 and not 5 because there is plp in the toilet to help you "wee wee" so there goes the extra 1 star on top of it) right across Intel Building. you can acctually see it from a manager's cube and he told me he been dream to stay there for 1 night since he works in Intel. Too bad he is not staying there as the price per night was ~USD360. But I believe he was able to pay that bill.

Been having my first lunch in Bangalore at one of the hotel restaurant - Citrus and shockingly cost me a lot of penny. The most expensive lunch I ever had. Took me 2000 ruppee. Money aside lets talk food. Variety of international cuisine and categorize to vege and non-vege. Saw quite some exortic food like Sashimi (fish is hard to get at Bangalore), Blue Cheese, Lobster Soup and others. Serve with wine, some liquor, drinks, coffee, desert and dont forget a jazz band made of 3 beautiful lady. You think it worth? then can experience the high class environment to eat there. Oh ya Leela have 2 other restaurant there one call Zen (Japanese food and again cost you 2000 ruppee ~RM170 for lunch) and another is indian food and I believe the price is similar.

a glass of white wine
A lobster soup - taste like feet to me.
Cup of capucino.
Chocolately rich covered dry food and mush mallow.
Mr Alvin (left) and Mak. Thanks for the first exotic lunch on my first trip to Bangalore.

Here is the receipt prove to see the price.

BBQ Nation

For thos who like BBQ and eat a lot here is a good place for you. Situated not far from Intel as well. Approximate 10 minutes walk from Intel, right opposite Mainland China (one good chinese restaurant at Bangalore). Serve lunch and dinner. Cost you 450 ruppee exclude drinks.

If you think that the main course is the BBQ then you are as wrong as me when I first walk into BBQ Nation. BBQ was acctually just its starter. Yup you not seeing it wrongly it is just starter. they serve you with BBQ stick with chicken, fish, prawns, vege and let you BBQ just like what show in the picture. Then it has the main course like the rice, curry, soup, desert to choose from the table. It is different then what you have in mind that it serve you with thousand kind of BBQ food but acctually it serve 5-6 kind of BBQ, others are normal rice and food. Though you might say this you call a BBQ restaurant? but you cant deny the BBQ station there. Is the BBQ environment you enjoy in here and if you want to be picky about it, I would say is just put on the heated charcoal and heat up the food. Good place for plp who want to have an all you can eat type of food.

There goes our BBQ..

This is me having bite from the BBQ. Taste not bad you know.

Tandoor

Ah..... the Tandoor house. Located at MG (Mahatma Gandhi) Road, one of the busiest road in Bangalore. Get to know this place well before I reach Bangalore. Heard of it from those who went business or relo there before and is highly recommended. So I cant miss it right?

Food is very very good. Price cost like 1600 ruppee for 4 person meal. The meal consist of 2 meat and 1 vege or 2 vege i cant recall. Highly recommend for Indian cuisine. The Tandoori Chicken is a must order meal. Else you will regret for the rest of your life that is if you are not back to Bangalore again. hehehe. :)

Menu for the Tandoor house

This is kind of a starter or source to go with your food. See the onion? that is a good tast onion.
The 4 tough guys from PG travel to Bangalore. (from left) Mak, Siew Cuong, Alvin and Me.
Snap shot of the meal we have. Let me recall Mutton Briyani, Tandoor Chicken on top left, another mutton below the spoon and some Vege cover by the pile of Briyani. Yum.....

Indie Joe

Indie Joe (not Indiana Jones) fusion restaurant mainly on western food. Famous for their Pasta (according the captain there) and I found it good for most of the food. Average cost I spend there was around 400-600 Ruppee include drinks. Their sizzling plate was nice and will full up your stomouch. Nice place to go for a meal or a drink.

Me having my Pizza at Indie Joe. Good Environment here.

Mailand China

Mainland China - good Chinese Food. Save me when I start thinking of chinese food. According one of the bill board on the road site and an article in local news paper Mainland China serve the best chinese food in Bangalore. You really feel good when you step into the restaurant with its interior design with a little touch of chinese. Serve chinese food from noodles to rice. Steam fish, vege, braised duck, although is not all chinese food have there but it was enough to make you stop thinking of chinese food back home. Reasonable price, good food, specially recommend the braised duck from myself. It worth going and you will like it.

Drinks serve in Mainland China. What a colorful world this is.
Guess what I am having. Looks like fish ball eh..... haha. Is acctually Lychee Toffee. Is a desert.

Corner House (Ice Cream Specialist)
Corner House - Let me tell you 1 thing, this is the thing that I miss out most after I back to Malaysia. Their ice cream is damn good. My personal thought and describe for it is, the ice cream is milky and soft, the toppings and cream bring out the freshness of the ice cream and dress the ice cream nicely. It is kind of like Baskin Robbins or Hagen Dazz but in a lower price. Cost you around range from 45-100 ruppee and you can deep yourself into the ice cream fantasy.

The Corner House logo.

Almond Fudge. Look how many almonds in there and the dark chocolate is coated under the white Vanilla. This is call the Dry Fruit something. Taste good but not as good as the Almond Fudge..... arrgh who can bring me one now!

Barista Cafe

Surprisingly you wont find any Starbucks or Coffee Bean around Bangalore. Want a sip of coffee lets go Barista baby. Here it is just like Starbucks or Coffee Bean back home. Good coffee pricey food. Well for a coffee guy like me, I am rather enjoy it.

A Cup of something coffee. I cant recall but looks nice and taste good. Here is the top view for the same coffee above
My call of food. I forget what it call but for sure is pasta. Taste alright but a bit pricey for a small plate. Anyway I am here to drink and taste the athmosphere, food is not the main attraction.
Lagsagna ordered by a fren. Looks cool and comment by him, not bad.

Samarkand (Best of the best)

Here comes the best food I rated in Bangalore...... Samarkand. Cautesy of RamP a tough guy in Intel Bangalore that introduce us to this restaurant. Here it is still Indian food but I think fuse with a bit of Iranian style I think (dont trust me as I am not a great food taster I just judge base on their style and what stated on the menu). Great Chicken something that serve on a sword, taste quite the same as tandoori chicken. Great mutton Briyani, it was damn surprise when the waiter serve the briyani on a bowl type of thing and when open out it was white??? white??? I was thinking and when he start serving the rice..... damn the aroma is damn damn damn good and the mutton was tender. Another dish is the potato type with heavy curry gravy. That too was like heavenly food. Compare to Tandoor house, here is cheaper and I personally edge to Samarkand more than Tandoor. To get here is a longer ride, is around Safina plaza and the street I call it "black street" as there is a lot of souveniour shop and many people come and greet you "fren come, come, what you need or what you want to buy, we have it". Lets back to the food among all restaurant I would say this is a must come places. Oh ya and something to add on, they provide fork and spoon but really you got to try with your finger and that make the food taste even better.
Exterior of the restaurant
The famous Chicken something (chicken on the sword) and the mutton briyani
This is not a deco on the table but this is acctually a appetizer call bread stick. Goes with milky cheese.

Here is a simple dish for 4. Taste good, cheaper price. To sum up, Grrrreeeaaaat place.

This is me with the Chicken something.

This is kind of sweets after meal. Almost all the indian restaurant serve this after you are done with the meal.
